running dxl script in Batch Mode

How to make a dxl batch file.

I have a xml file and I want to update that xml data into a DOORS module. Could anyone help me, How can I update the data into a DOORS module with out opening a DOORS client (I have client installed on my mchine).

Note: I have a scheduler in my machine, whenever the xml files come to my machine & I want that xml data should be updated automatically into my DOORS DB.

Please let me know if my questions not clear for you. Awaiting for solution. Thanks in Advance.

The DOORS client will have to be open, look at command line switches in DOORS help file for the -b switch.

First you'll need to write a function that accepts the open-edit Module handle and the XML file, and import that file into the module. Don't know how to do that. Make sure that works interactively.

Sounds like you want something running in Batch Mode. That script will need to open your target module edit and call the function you know already works, then save and close the module.

You can schedule tasks using Windows scheduler, and will have to enter your DOORS user name and passord into the tasks command line, perhaps looking like this:

"c:\Program Files\Telelogic\DOORS 9.1\bin\doors.exe" -u MyUser -P MyPassword -b "c:\DoorsStuff\MyXmlImport.dxl"

You'll have to enter your computer login and password into the scheduler.

That will update your module periodicically, perhaps every day at midnight.

I supppose Windows provides some other mechanism for triggering stuff, but I don't know about that.
